Jacques Cavallier (a k a JJC)

Born on January 1962 in Grasse, Jacques Cavallier was to be immersed in the perfumery world very early on with a perfumer father and grandfather... At 10 years old, he was spending his summers in the perfume laboratories of Grasse. After his baccalaureate, he started to work with Charabot, while studying English and Spanish at the University of Nice. During that time, he learned all the secrets of the Profession, from distillation to chromatography. He would study raw materials with his father every day from 5:00am to 7:00am. This gave Jacques Cavallier the foundation for his rare knowledge of naturals. 3 years later, he joined Naarden (Quest) first in the fine fragrance lab in Grasse and then in the Netherlands. He next moved to PFW in 1988 and to Firmenich in 1990. He was 28 years old then and met 2 people that would play a key role in his future: Alberto Morillas, his "brother in creation" and Chantal Roos who taught him "how to work and impose his choices". With her, he created L'Eau d'Issey (Issey Miyake) in 1991 and Jean Paul Gaultier Women in 1993 and then L'Eau d'Issey for Men, Le Feu d'Issey, Nu d'Yves Saint Laurent. The list of his creations is huge. (Bulgari Pour Homme, Jil Sander for Men, Givenchy Hot Couture, Kate Spade....)

Jacques Cavallier's style is extremely versatile and he is comfortable in any direction: from reinventing fresh fragrances to darker and deeper notes. Like a Karl Lagerfeld in fashion he masters raw materials and can create extremely faceted, crafted and very qualitative perfumes with great signature. Proud and sensitive, perfectionist and "bordelique", a great perfumer and a great father, Jacques is a complex person. He doesn't like to reveal himself completely and protects himself with a sharp sense of humor...
